David Scully

David Scully

David Scully has nearly 40 years' specialty insurance experience, 26 in Fine Art & Specie (FAS). He was Underwriting Manager at AXA Art UK where he led the insurance of many of the world's leading Museums, “blockbuster” exhibitions, large and small private collections and dealers, Stately Homes and “Very High Net Worth” households.  Subsequently, he set up and ran XL Catlin's market leading Asian operation, working in Singapore for over 7 years, from where he was heavily involved with business in Greater China, including the Hong Kong art and jewellery market.  He worked in the New York insurance market for 5 years.  He is a Bachelor of Law from the University of Southampton, where he specialised in Transport Law.  He is accredited as a Mediator by and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

David's career has given him exposure to almost all aspects of the art, specie and “High Net Worth” world.  He has discreetly dealt with many difficult situations including provenance, authenticity and ownership, transport and import/ export issues, insurance matters, intra family disputes and purchase/ sale issues.

David now provides in depth advisory services to a few art insurance related businesses and he is available to mediate on all matters within these areas.

Bill Perry

Bill Perry

Bill Perry is accredited as a mediator by CEDR (the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution – widely acknowledged as the ‘gold standard' in mediation) and is a member of the Civil Mediation Council.

He has also been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators for over 35 years. He has sat as an arbitrator in multinational arbitrations.

His legal practice (he is a solicitor) has for over 30 years been based on fine art and antiquities, jewellers block and specie matters. He has worked on issues including the authenticity and provenance of Old Masters, claims arising from loss and theft, valuation issues due to damage and alleged damage, insurance coverage and many more. During that time he has also worked in contentious trusts and probate, relating to trusts and estates in England and all over the world.

Bill is an MA (Oxon); he qualified as a solicitor in the top 1% of his year. He has been rated in Chambers UK, the Legal 500, Who's Who Legal Product Liability Defence, and Insurance and Reinsurance, as well as Citywealth Leaders List over many years. He has been rated one of the top 100 lawyers in London by Thomson Reuters.

He is the Senior Counsel at Carter Perry Bailey LLP, a boutique (re)insurance and commercial law firm in the City of London (having been Senior Partner 2009 – 18). He was President of the International Association of Defense Counsel (a global group of lawyers based in Chicago) in 2011-12; President of Insuralex (the global (re)insurance law firm network) in 2012-14 and Chairman of the Association of insurance and reinsurance Service Providers from 2014 - 18.
